Emma seeks to assist people in all aspects of wellbeing and mental health, particularly in the context of improving relationships using a variety of frameworks from clinical psychology. Examples of common difficulties people come to seek help for include:
Stress and Anxiety
Anxiety is a normal experience for all people from time to time. However, when anxiety becomes preoccupying and interferes in our ability to enjoy our life and relationships it can be useful to seek professional help. Anxiety about social situations, worrying too much about different areas, engaging in obsessive compulsive behaviours (OCD) or excessive fear or phobia’s are common reasons people come to seek help. Anxiety can also increase at times of change and adjustment, such as changing jobs or careers, having a baby, moving house or the loss of a relationship or loved one.
Mood
It is normal to have some days which are more difficult than others. However, if the low mood starts to be persistent and impacts on our ability to have adequate sleep, appetite, relationships or hopefulness for the future, it can be very helpful to get some support.
Relationships
Often when we are experiencing difficulties with anxiety or depression our relationships can be affected. Relationship problems can also impact how we feel day to day. Emma's approach to relationships is influenced by her Family Systems Training and focusses on what each individual can do within their control to manage themselves when relationships are challenging. Emma see's people who want to improve the way they function in their close relationships . Emma has undertaken postgraduate training in Bowen Family Systems theory and practice.
Emma has a special interest in working with people in Faith based organisations who are struggling with stress and anxiety.
